The South African National Energy Development Institute (SANEDI) is pleased to welcome Ms. Prudence Madiba, Pr.Eng, FSAIEE, as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 October 2026.

Ms. Madiba is a professionally registered Electrical Engineer with more than 24 years of experience at Eskom, where she most recently served as General Manager: Research, Testing and Development. In this role, she provided executive leadership, drove innovative research initiatives, advised on technical strategies, and led initiatives aimed at strengthening technical capabilities and improving operational performance.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering, a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management, a Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Industrial), and a Master’s in Engineering Management. She also completed the Executive Development Program at Duke University and is currently pursuing a PhD in Industrial Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch.

Ms. Madiba has extensive leadership and governance experience within the engineering sector. She currently serves as President of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) and has served on the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA), including as Chairperson of its Registration Committee. She has also contributed to international energy and engineering initiatives, including serving as technical lead for Priority 1 of the 2025 G20 Energy Transitions Working Group
